I do update the fridge list most weeks because there’s obviously more going on in there but sometimes I cheat and just have a quick look in the fridge before I sit down and write the plan so it’s fresh in my mind – it’s usually pretty empty by the end of the week to be fair so there’s often not much in there to use up. The cupboards list is pretty much the same in that it doesn’t need a full-on new list every week. I just cross off what I’ve used in the last week and add on what I’ve bought through the week.

I have three freezers (don’t ask) so I have no hope of remembering what I have in without an actual list but I don’t need to do a full freezer inventory every week, I’ll just do a full-on list every couple of months and update it once a week when I do my meal plan. Whenever I explain how I plan our meals, I always say that I start off by listing what we have in the fridge, freezer and cupboards which makes total sense because the idea is to try and use up what you already have in so a list of what you have in already is a good place to start! This Free Printable Cupboard, Fridge and Freezer Inventory is exactly what you need to help you with your meal planning.
